1984-1986 Peugeot 205 T16 Group B

May 11, 2009

1982 began Group B rally and 1986 was the end. Group B was largely unregulated but some rules included 200 homologation (road going) versions of the cars had to be produced and there were minimum weight limits based on class. The cars were too fast and too light, 500hp at 2000lbs driving through crowds of people, mountains, woods. This combination plus the human limit of reaction time led to multiple deaths of both spectators and drivers.

The following is a brief breakdown of the Peugeot 205 from base road car (font-engine / front-wheel-drive) to homologation and Group B variants (both mid-engine and all-wheel-drive).
